Configure Monitoring in Huawei Cloud203

Introduction

Huawei Cloud provides a comprehensive monitoring service that enables you to monitor the health and performance of your cloud-based resources. By configuring monitoring, you can collect and analyze metrics, logs, and traces from your resources, identify issues early on, and take corrective action.

Prerequisites

Before you can configure monitoring, you need to create a Huawei Cloud account and have an active project.

Create a Monitoring Namespace

The first step in configuring monitoring is to create a monitoring namespace. A namespace is a logical container for your monitoring data. You can create multiple namespaces to organize your data based on your needs.
Log in to the Huawei Cloud console.
Select "Monitoring" from the left-hand menu.
Click the "Create Namespace" button.
Enter a name and description for the namespace.
Click the "Create" button.

Configure Monitoring for ECS Instances

Once you have created a monitoring namespace, you can configure monitoring for your ECS instances. ECS (Elastic Cloud Server) is Huawei Cloud's virtual machine service.
Log in to the Huawei Cloud console.
Select "ECS" from the left-hand menu.
Click the "Instances" tab.
Select the instance(s) you want to monitor.
Click the "Monitor" button.
In the "Monitor" tab, select the namespace you created earlier.
Click the "Start Monitoring" button.

Configure Monitoring for RDS Instances

You can also configure monitoring for your RDS (Relational Database Service) instances.
Log in to the Huawei Cloud console.
Select "RDS" from the left-hand menu.
Click the "Instances" tab.
Select the instance(s) you want to monitor.
Click the "Monitor" button.
In the "Monitor" tab, select the namespace you created earlier.
Click the "Start Monitoring" button.

Configure Monitoring for ELB Instances

You can also configure monitoring for your ELB (Elastic Load Balancing) instances.
Log in to the Huawei Cloud console.
Select "ELB" from the left-hand menu.
Click the "Load Balancers" tab.
Select the load balancer(s) you want to monitor.
Click the "Monitor" button.
In the "Monitor" tab, select the namespace you created earlier.
Click the "Start Monitoring" button.

View Monitoring Data

Once you have configured monitoring, you can view your monitoring data in the Huawei Cloud console. To do so, select "Monitoring" from the left-hand menu and then click on the "Dashboards" tab.

You can use dashboards to visualize your monitoring data and identify trends. You can also create custom dashboards to meet your specific needs.

Set Up Alerts

In addition to viewing monitoring data, you can also set up alerts to notify you when certain conditions are met. For example, you can set up an alert to notify you when the CPU usage of an ECS instance exceeds a certain threshold.
Log in to the Huawei Cloud console.
Select "Monitoring" from the left-hand menu.
Click the "Alerts" tab.
Click the "Create Alert" button.
Select the namespace and resource you want to monitor.
Select the metric or log you want to monitor.
Set the alert threshold.
Select the notification channel(s) you want to use.
Click the "Create" button.

Conclusion

By configuring monitoring in Huawei Cloud, you can ensure that your cloud-based resources are healthy and performing optimally. Monitoring can help you identify issues early on and take corrective action, thereby avoiding costly downtime and data loss.
