Rearview Mirror Monitor Installation Guide with Diagrams216
Installing a rearview mirror monitor is a relatively simple process that can be completed in under an hour. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can ensure that your monitor is installed correctly and securely.
Materials You'll Need
Rearview mirror monitor
Phillips head screwdriver
Wire cutters/strippers
Electrical tape
Zip ties
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Remove the Existing Rearview Mirror
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the existing rearview mirror in place. Carefully lift the mirror off the windshield and set it aside.
2. Mount the New Mirror Monitor
Position the new mirror monitor on the windshield in the same location as the old mirror. Use the screws that came with the monitor to secure it in place.
3. Connect the Wires
The rearview mirror monitor will typically have two or three wires: a red wire (power), a black wire (ground), and sometimes a yellow wire (video input). Connect the red wire to the fuse box in your vehicle using a fuse tap. Connect the black wire to a grounding point on the vehicle's chassis. If your monitor has a yellow wire, connect it to the video output from your backup camera.
4. Route the Wires
Route the wires from the mirror monitor to the fuse box and grounding point. Use zip ties to secure the wires in place and keep them out of the way.
5. Hide the Wires
If possible, tuck the wires behind the headliner or A-pillar trim. This will help to keep them hidden and out of sight.
6. Test the System
Once all of the wires are connected, test the rearview mirror monitor by putting your vehicle in reverse. The monitor should automatically display the image from your backup camera.
Tips
If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, we recommend that you have a professional install the rearview mirror monitor for you.
Make sure that the wires are securely connected and insulated to prevent any electrical shorts.
If you are having trouble getting the rearview mirror monitor to work, check the connections and make sure that the fuse is not blown.
