Tenda Surveillance Camera Teardown Guide160

Introduction

Tenda is a leading provider of networking and security solutions. Recently, I had the opportunity to take apart one of their surveillance cameras, the Tenda CP3. In this article, I will share my findings and provide a step-by-step guide on how to disassemble the camera.

Tools and Materials

Before starting, gather the following tools and materials:
Phillips screwdriver
Torx screwdriver (T6)
Small flat-head screwdriver or spudger
Anti-static wrist strap (optional)

Disassembly Steps

Step 1: Remove the Base Plate

Start by removing the two Phillips screws securing the base plate. Carefully lift the base plate off the camera body.

Step 2: Disconnect the Power Cable

Locate the power cable connected to the back of the camera. Gently pull the connector to disconnect it.

Step 3: Remove the External Antenna

Unscrew the two Torx screws holding the external antenna. Remove the antenna.

Step 4: Remove the Front Shell

Using a small flat-head screwdriver or spudger, gently pry the front shell away from the rear shell. Start by inserting the tool into the seam between the two shells and carefully work your way around the perimeter. Be patient and avoid using excessive force.

Step 5: Remove the Lens Module

Once the front shell is removed, you will have access to the lens module. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the lens module and carefully lift it out.

Step 6: Disconnect the Rear Shell

Locate the ribbon cable connecting the rear shell to the camera body. Gently pull the connector to disconnect it. Now, you can lift off the rear shell to expose the internal components.

Step 7: Remove the Circuit Board

The circuit board is secured by four Phillips screws. Remove the screws and carefully lift the circuit board out of the camera body. Be careful not to damage the delicate components.

Step 8: Examine the Internal Components

Take some time to examine the internal components of the camera. You will find the following:
Image sensor
Lens
Circuit board
Power supply
Network interface

Reassembly

To reassemble the camera, simply follow the disassembly steps in reverse order.

Conclusion

Disassembling the Tenda CP3 surveillance camera is a relatively straightforward process. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can safely access and examine the internal components of the camera. This knowledge can be useful for maintenance, troubleshooting, or modification purposes.
