Falcon Monitoring Setup Guide25

Falcon Monitoring is a powerful monitoring and observability platform that can help you keep your applications and infrastructure running smoothly. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps of setting up Falcon Monitoring, including how to create a monitoring plan, add hosts and applications, and configure alerts.

Creating a Monitoring Plan

The first step in setting up Falcon Monitoring is to create a monitoring plan. This plan will define the metrics, logs, and events that you want to monitor, as well as the thresholds that will trigger alerts. To create a monitoring plan, log in to the Falcon Monitoring console and click on the "Plans" tab. Then, click on the "Create Plan" button.

In the "Create Plan" dialog box, enter a name for your plan and select the hosts and applications that you want to monitor. You can also specify the metrics, logs, and events that you want to monitor, as well as the thresholds that will trigger alerts.

Adding Hosts and Applications

Once you have created a monitoring plan, you need to add hosts and applications to it. To add a host, click on the "Hosts" tab in the Falcon Monitoring console and then click on the "Add Host" button. In the "Add Host" dialog box, enter the hostname or IP address of the host that you want to add.

To add an application, click on the "Applications" tab in the Falcon Monitoring console and then click on the "Add Application" button. In the "Add Application" dialog box, enter the name of the application that you want to add and select the hosts that it runs on.

Configuring Alerts

Once you have added hosts and applications to your monitoring plan, you need to configure alerts. Alerts will notify you when a metric, log, or event exceeds a threshold that you have defined. To configure alerts, click on the "Alerts" tab in the Falcon Monitoring console and then click on the "Create Alert" button.

In the "Create Alert" dialog box, select the metric, log, or event that you want to monitor. You can also specify the threshold that will trigger the alert, the recipients of the alert, and the actions that will be taken when the alert is triggered.

Next Steps

Once you have set up Falcon Monitoring, you can start monitoring your applications and infrastructure. You can use the Falcon Monitoring console to view metrics, logs, and events, and to receive alerts when problems occur. Falcon Monitoring can help you to keep your applications and infrastructure running smoothly and to identify and resolve problems quickly.
