Hikvision network video recorders (NVRs) offer a comprehensive surveillance solution for businesses and homes. To ensure optimal performance and security, it is essential to configure the NVR's network settings correctly. This guide will walk you through the steps necessary to change the network settings of your Hikvision NVR.
Prerequisites* Hikvision NVR
* Ethernet cable
* Computer with web browser
* Administrator password for the NVR
Step 1: Connect the NVR to the Network* Connect the NVR to the network using an Ethernet cable.
* Power on the NVR.
Step 2: Access the NVR's Web Interface* Open a web browser on the computer connected to the same network as the NVR.
* Enter the NVR's IP address in the address bar. The default IP address is usually 192.168.1.108.
* Log in to the NVR using the administrator username and password.
Step 3: Navigate to Network Settings* Click on "Configuration" in the navigation menu on the left.
* Select "Network" from the submenu.
Step 4: Configure the Network Interface* In the "Network Interface" section, select the network interface you want to configure.
* Choose the appropriate network connection type (DHCP or Static IP).
* If you select DHCP, the NVR will automatically obtain its IP address from a DHCP server.
* If you select Static IP, you need to enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway manually.
Step 5: Configure the DNS Settings* In the "DNS" section, enter the IP address of the primary and secondary DNS servers.
* If you are using a DHCP server, these settings will be obtained automatically.
Step 6: Configure the Gateway* In the "Gateway" section, enter the IP address of the default gateway.
* The default gateway is the router that connects the NVR to the Internet.
Step 7: Save the Settings* Click on "Apply" to save the changes.
* The NVR will reboot to apply the new network settings.
Tips* If you encounter any problems connecting to the NVR after changing the network settings, try resetting the NVR to its default configuration.
* To reset the NVR, press and hold the "Reset" button on the back of the device for at least 10 seconds.
* Make sure that the NVR's network settings are compatible with the network it is connected to.
* Keep the NVR's firmware up to date to ensure optimal performance and security.
